Certificate of Possession
A certificate of possession is issued to the buyer of a new condominium by the developer when the unit is ready for occupation. Before the certificate is issued, the buyer and a developer’s representative inspect the unit to identify any defects or deficiencies. If these are minor, the certificate is issued and the buyer can take possession of the unit. A certificate of possession does not transfer title for the unit to the buyer.
